2010 Shares are Temporarily Sold Out!

Due to overwhelming response, we are temporarily suspending sales of 2010 Shares. When more quality fiber becomes available, sales will resume.

They will consist of a combination of Jacob's Reward fiber and fiber from several other select alpaca and sheep breeders, as a way of spreading the support to other local fiber producers. Choosing this option may expand the variety of colors and blends in your share at the end of the year.

E-mail Cindy to be placed on the 2010 waiting list.

Welcome to the Farm!

More about the Jacob’s Reward Farm CSA:

Though we are not a certified-organic farm, we practice natural and sustainable methods of caring for our animals and our land. We use no pesticides or herbicides on the property and provide all-natural ingredients in animal feed. All animals receive proper medical attention when necessary. We treat our animals more like pets than livestock!

Our fiber crop will be harvested in March (alpacas) and May (sheep) and then carefully cleaned and sent to the family-run fiber mill we use, to be processed into spinning roving. We allow about two months for the fiber to be returned for distribution. Shareholders will receive an assortment of fibers, in natural colors and blends. Processing the roving into knitting yarn may be done by the shareholder either through the fiber mill of their choice, or by a local hand spinner, at additional cost.

Spinning is easy and satisfying – we’ll teach you how! Perhaps you are a knitter who would like more control over the yarns you use. We’ll be happy to get you started spinning, and provide the resources you need to excel at this simple heritage craft.

For seasoned spinners, we know you’ll enjoy working with these outstanding fibers and blends. Our rovings have been tested and approved by spinners all over the country.

A share of the Jacob’s Reward CSA also makes a wonderful gift for a spinner or knitter who values sustainable agriculture and a deep connection to his or her fiber. Your gift recipient can also enjoy farm life just minutes from the city through our scheduled events and regular updates.

As in vegetable garden CSAs, our fiber CSA cannot guarantee the exact amount of roving that will be distributed to each shareholder. We will limit the number of shares available to ensure a satisfactory harvest for each shareholder. If the crop of fiber seems low, we reserve the right to supplement the clip with quality fiber purchased from other local farms.

We want our shareholders to be fully satisfied with their crop at the end of the year!

*No actual transfer of ownership of Jacob’s Reward Farm is implied by this investment. It is simply a sharing of the harvest at the end of the fiber year. Jacob’s Reward Farm is not a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
